Medical Bridges: Turning a Warehouse of Equipment Into Lifesaving Care in the Congo
The Asset
Our Journey with Medical Bridges
Great Heart Global has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Medical Bridges, securing a full container of medical equipment and supplies valued at roughly $250,000. This equipment will head toward the Kisangani region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where it will strengthen the local clinical and healthcare system, in partnership with Gracia Fondation.
The Journey: Houston to Kisangani

Initial Transport
Sea fright from Houston to the Port of Matadi
Inland Transport
Ground Transport, Matadi to Kinshasa via the N1 highway, plus customs and duty-exeption processing
Last-Mile Delivery
Congo River Transport, Kinshasa to Kisangani, ending at the Gracia Fondation clinic

How the supplies will be managed on the ground:
The container's assets will be used for Gracia Fondation's documented disease burden in Kisangani: sickle cell anemia, malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, maternal and neonatal care, malnutrition, and surgical emergencies. For example, oxygen concentrators, patient monitors, and blood-product refrigeration target sickle cell care, while items like infant incubators, fetal monitors, and delivery kits address maternal/neonatal needs.

The Path Forward
With the equipment secured, our team is now coordinating the logistics to get it there: shipping, customs, insurance, and ground transportation from a US warehouse to our partner facilities in Kisangani. This is the bridge between having the resources and putting them to work.

How You Can Help
Great Heart Global already has access to valuable, lifesaving medical equipment that will change communities in Congo for the better, but we've got to get it there. Your support covers the cost of moving it, turning secured resources into real care for the mothers, babies, and families who need it most.
